A family story, a sound that spans generations

Born and raised among wood, varnish, and strings, Stefano Conia "The Younger" is the third generation of a family of violin makers. From his grandfather, Istvan Konya, who worked in Hungary in the 1950s, to his father—a renowned stringed instrument maker and restorer—luthiery has always been part of his DNA. At just 14, he made his first violin while attending the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, immediately distinguishing himself for his talent and dedication, so much so that he was awarded the "W. Stauffer" scholarship.

Cremonese tradition and personal vision

Stefano's work is deeply inspired by the great masters of the past: Stradivari, Guarneri del Gesù, and Amati. But every instrument that leaves his workshop has a unique character, born from a direct dialogue with the musician. Every curve, every finish, every detail is crafted to achieve a balance between aesthetics and sound. The experience gained over the years, combined with a constant search for the highest-quality materials, allows him to craft violins, violas, and cellos that combine beauty, precision, and powerful sound.

Awards, recognitions and customers from all over the world

Over the years, Stefano has participated in numerous international competitions, winning prizes and honors at prestigious events such as Bagnacavallo, Baveno, and the renowned Cremona Triennale. His instruments are played by professional musicians, orchestras, conservatories, and international soloists. Some choose to order online and have their instruments delivered directly to their homes, while others come to the workshop to closely monitor the construction and finalize the setup together.

A living workshop, between art, listening and technique

Today, Stefano Conia's workshop is a dynamic laboratory in the heart of Cremona, open to dialogue with musicians. Here, custom instruments are crafted, restoration work is carried out, and new technical solutions are explored. But above all, they listen. Because every violinist has a different sensibility, and the luthier's job is to translate their needs into wood, varnish, and sound.
